ECON 1740 - Economic History of U.S.
I took this class in about my second or thrid semester at SLCC and at that time, there was no such thing as an eportfolio project. In this class, we just took notes and our grade was determined based on how we did in tests. So, to put into my portfolio for this class, I put a copy of notes we took of a chapter in our textbook for the class.
REFLECTION
History is such a fascinating subject. Filled with all sorts of exotic stories of battles, people, places, and more that have been told many times over and over again. Take for example the tales of the Greeks with all their mythical creatures such as centaurs, cyclops's, chimeras, the Gods, hydra, etc. Even think about the history that's taken place in the U.S. such as the American Revolution (help us with our independence and freedom from Britain), the Civil War (1861-1865), and World War II which is known as the time that America created the atomic bomb and dropped in on Japan which helped to end the war. But throughout all these things and events, money had to be put into manufacturing and producing the weapons and gear needed for battle. What does this have to do with economics? The answer is that money is what affects and influences a countries economy which allows it to expand and grow so that it can be able to do much more business in the world. Learning about how the U.S.'s economy developed through the ages wasn't exactly the funest subject to learn about but I still did get knowledge from the course and tend to keep with me throughout my entire life.
